Lanterns & Love | A Blue Hour Engagement

This session was something I had never done before and I am SO glad I stepped out of my comfort zone because WOW.

After starting Kennedy and Jackson’s engagement session before golden hour (you’ve seen that magic already in the post before this one😉), we stayed. We waited. We let the sun fully dip below the horizon and leaned into something moodier, deeper, and more intimate.

Blue hour. And wow.

This session absolutely lit my soul on fire.

The tones shifted. The sky deepened into the dreamiest blues. The grain, the movement, the emotion — it all came together in a way that felt almost cinematic. Intimate. Romantic. A little mysterious. The kind of images that feel like memories the second you look at them.

We brought lanterns for them to carry from the dunes down to the beach, and watching them walk together in that soft fading light felt unreal. It was quiet. It was calm. It was just them.

There is something so magical about shooting after most people would pack up and leave. When the beach empties. When the air cools. When the world slows down.

During the session, I knew we were creating something special.

But during editing? I was absolutely speechless.

Blue hour gave us the most intimate, moody, romantic images for Kennedy and Jackson to look back on forever. The texture. The depth. The emotion. It was everything I didn’t know I needed creatively.

This night reminded me why I love pushing myself artistically. Why stepping outside your comfort zone can completely reignite your passion.

Kennedy & Jackson trusted me fully — and together we created something that felt like pure magic.

Safe to say… blue hour has a permanent place in my heart now. 🌙✨
