Two Years of Watching You Grow

There is something incredibly special about photographing a family year after year — watching their story unfold right in front of your lens.

I first photographed this sweet family during their maternity session, then Adelina’s first birthday… and now here we are, celebrating TWO. Being invited back again and again is something I never take for granted. Getting to grow alongside my clients is one of the greatest honors of this job.

We met at a local county park for this session, and let’s just say… Adelina had her own plans at first. The second she spotted my camera? Immediate tears. Full toddler protest mode. Straight to the ground. (Terrible twos? Maybe just strong opinions 😂)

So we pivoted.

Instead of poses, we leaned into prompts. Instead of forcing smiles, we let her lead.

We tied her giant “2” balloon to her wrist, which instantly became the most fascinating accessory of the day. It kept her busy, curious, and just distracted enough to forget about the “very suspicious camera lady.”

Then we wandered toward the flower fields — and that’s when the magic happened.

Adelina found a tiny moth friend and was completely mesmerized. That little guy stayed perched on her finger for the longest time, and she studied him with the sweetest concentration. It was one of those unscripted, quiet childhood moments that you can’t plan — and those always end up being my favorites.

We ended the session the best way possible: at the playground. Swings with mom, dad giving big pushes, giggles in the air, and of course a few trips down the slides. No pressure. No expectations. Just real life and real joy.

And honestly? That’s what two looks like. A little unpredictable. A little wild. Completely wonderful.

Adelina, I’ve loved watching you grow from the tiniest bump to this fiercely independent little two-year-old. I can’t wait to see what year three brings. 💛
