Senior Year on Lake Michigan | Madison’s Story

There is something so special about full-circle moments.

When a friend I went to high school with reached out to say her cousin loved a previous Lake Michigan session I had photographed and wanted me to capture her senior photos, I was already honored. But once I heard Madison’s vision for her session, I knew this one was going to be unforgettable.

Madison wanted her senior photos taken on her Papi’s boat — a place that feels like home to her. A place tied to childhood memories, summers on the water, and the way she grew up. I truly couldn’t think of a more meaningful way to celebrate who she is and the season she’s stepping into.

We spent the evening out on Lake Michigan, with her Papi proudly serving as our captain. Her mom and aunt joined us too, and getting to witness the family dynamic was such a gift. Watching all the girls laugh, adjust ropes, and cheer Madison on made the session feel less like a photoshoot and more like a memory in the making.

One of my favorite moments was when Madison suggested we cruise past their family home to capture it in the background. It was such a thoughtful idea — layering her past and her future into the same frame. That’s what senior year is, isn’t it? Honoring where you come from while stepping confidently toward what’s next.

The entire session felt so natural. So personal. So completely her.

Madison, thank you for trusting me to document this milestone in a way that reflects your heart, your family, and your story. If this session is any indication, your next chapter is going to be just as beautiful as the life you’ve built so far.
