Baby girl's first tractor ride (coming soon)
Some sessions just feel like home from the very beginning — and this was one of them.
When my old coworker Joe and his girlfriend Kylee told me they wanted to do their maternity session in their family’s field with her dad’s tractor, I knew it was going to be special. But what made it even sweeter? Her dad repainted the tractor before the shoot so it would look fresh and perfect for photos.
That right there tells you everything you need to know about the kind of support system surrounding this baby girl.
The evening was filled with stormy skies, open fields, and the kind of quiet excitement that only comes when you know your whole world is about to change in the best way. Kylee looked absolutely radiant, and Joe spent the entire session hyping her up — adjusting her hair, making her laugh, telling her how beautiful she looked. Watching him already step into that protective, proud role was the sweetest thing.
And then… the boots.
Joe brought the tiniest, sparkliest little cowgirl boots for their baby girl, and I don’t think I’ll ever get over them. They were so perfectly her already — a little country, a little glam, and completely adorable. Seeing those boots sitting there with the most beautiful flowers and the ultrasound photos felt like the most fitting welcome for their daughter.
It was one of those sessions that reminds you it truly takes a village. From a dad excitedly repainting a tractor, to a future dad cheering on the mama-to-be, this baby girl is already surrounded by so much love.
And as if the session couldn’t have had more personality… we were gifted a HUGE storm right before and during their shoot.
Dark clouds rolled in. The wind picked up. And halfway through, the rain started falling.
I remember chatting with Kylee beforehand and asking if she wanted to reschedule — just to be safe. Her response? “Nope. Bring it on.” And I’m so glad she did.
What could have felt like a setback ended up being the very thing that made the session unforgettable. The cloudy skies added depth. The rain added movement. The stormy backdrop against that freshly painted tractor was pure magic. It was moody, powerful, and honestly… so fitting for a season of life that feels big and transformative.
It was such a beautiful reminder that you don’t always need sunny skies and golden hour to create something meaningful. Sometimes the stormy, rainy days are even sweeter.
And Joe and Kylee? They embraced every second of it.
Joe & Kylee — I cannot wait to see you step into parenthood. If this little girl is even half as loved as she already is, she is going to grow up knowing just how special she is.
